Senior Psychologist

Kimin, a Senior Psychologist with over 30 years of experience, specializes in supportive and therapeutic counseling using evidence-based interventions like CBT, ACT, and Exposure Therapy. With a dynamic and eclectic approach, she has worked across diverse settings including emergency services, defense, and the LGBTQIA+ community, and has provided mentoring and coaching to elite athletes and emergency personnel.

Biography

Kimin is passionate about providing supportive and therapeutic counselling using a range of evidence-based interventions tailored to the individual’s unique set of circumstances, concerns raised, values and goals. She has a personable, collaborative, dynamic and eclectic approach to help them navigate life’s challenges to achieve positive change and overall wellbeing and happiness. She understands that to ensure successful outcomes for our clients we need to be patient, compassionate and will work with you at your pace to find the ‘best fit’ approach and that everyone reaches their goals in different timeframes.

Kimin is a Senior Psychologist with over 3 decades of clinical experience across specialist, emergency services, organisational, correctional, defence, corporate, LGBTQIA+ community and broader mental health settings. She has held a number of high level and challenging leadership roles; these have included over 4 years with NSW Ambulance in Senior Psychologist and Acting Chief Psychologist positions. Earlier in her career she served for 14 years in the Royal Australian Navy as Senior Psychologist and Manager as well as working with clients with an HIV/AIDS diagnosis within the LGBTQIA+ and general community and with chronically mentally ill clients in the hospital and community arena. She also possesses extensive experience in Trauma response and wider EAP Program delivery, having worked with a leading provider for over 3 years.

In each of her professional roles she has been responsible for providing and developing effective and high-quality service delivery and wellbeing programs, working with people from a wide range of cultures and identities across the life span. She has provided supportive, therapeutic and short-term, solution-focussed and longer term counselling to clients with a diverse array of presentations and age groups, contributing towards their ongoing wellness and happiness.

This includes provision of supportive and therapeutic counselling using a range of evidence-based treatment modes (CBT, Exposure Therapy, ACT, Motivational Interviewing (MI) mindfulness and compassion based therapies to name a few) tailored and compatible to the client’s personality style and expectations. Addressing a range of issues including but not exhaustive, trauma, complex trauma, stress, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, adjustment disorders, vocational concerns, relationship issues, body image, identity concerns and transition to retirement, health and life changes. Additionally, she has provided extensive mentoring and supervisory support to clinical and non-clinical team members.
She has also provided psychological / performance coaching and mentoring for elite athletes (NRL junior and senior leagues), defence force and emergency service personnel and managers. Kimin holds a B.A Psychology degree, M.A Psychology degree and is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia and is a full member of the Australian Psychological Society.
