James is a Clinical Psychologist with over 30 years experience in a range of mental health care settings including private practice, Community Mental Health and Drug & Alcohol services, HIV counselling, Corrective Services, general hospital psychiatric wards, and eating disorders units.

Biography

James is a Clinical Psychologist with over 30 years experience in a range of mental health care settings including private practice, Community Mental Health and Drug & Alcohol services, HIV counselling, Corrective Services, general hospital psychiatric wards, and eating disorders units. He is a Registered Clinical Psychologist (AHPRA) and a member of the Clinical College of the Australian Psychological Society. He is also an AHPRA approved clinical supervisor.
James worked in biological and medical research and management before gaining qualifications and experience in psychological therapy. He has completed Masters and Doctorate degrees in biological and psychological sciences (universities of Sydney, NSW, and New England).
James provides assessment and treatment for a wide range of psychological and behavioural problems including ADHD, ASD, dyslexia, eating disorders, depression, anxiety disorders, relationship difficulties, anger, grief and trauma and their consequences, and addictive behaviours. His preferred clients are adolescents and adults.
His approach to treatment is based on cognitive behavioural (CBT) principles but he draws on a broad base of psychological theory and treatment to achieve an understanding of how best to assist clients to better manage problems in their life situation, thinking, feeling and behaviour.
