What causes chronic pain?
Chronic pain can be a result of injury or illness. Occasionally people present to doctors with pain that cannot be identified (even without injury or illness), and are diagnosed with chronic pain.
What are the symptoms of chronic pain?
Common symptoms of chronic pain often include:
- Recurring back pain and/or neck pain
- Diffuse muscle aches
- Muscle tender points
- Sleep disturbance and fatigue
- A sad or anxious mood
- Difficulty falling asleep and/or staying asleep
- Feeling hopeless or lacking interest in previously enjoyed activities
- An increase or decrease in appetite
- Low energy or lack of motivation

How to book a session
To be eligible for the Medicare rebate, you will need to have a referral from a GP. Simply visit your GP, tell them how you are feeling, and ask about a Mental Health Care Plan and referral for Good Thinking Clinical Psychology.
